This easy and delicious French Onion Soup is made entirely in your soup maker, with rich caramelized onions, savory broth, and cheesy toasted French bread. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal that’s ready in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 3 large onions, peeled and sliced into strips
  • 40g butter
  • 960ml vegetable stock
  • 1 tsp frozen garlic (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
  • 240ml white wine
  • 2 tbsp thyme
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of French bread
  • 28g Gruyère cheese, grated

How To Make French Onion Soup In A Soup Maker:

  1. Prepare the onions: Peel and slice the onions into strips. Season them with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  2. Sauté the onions: Add the onions and butter to your soup maker. Set it to the sauté function and sauté for 5 minutes until the onions start to soften and caramelize slightly.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients: Cancel the sauté function and add the vegetable stock, garlic, and white wine. Make sure not to exceed the MAX line in your soup maker.
  4. Cook the soup: Select the ‘Chunky’ soup setting and cook for 30 minutes.
  5. Prepare the bread: Five minutes before the soup is done, slice the French bread and top with grated Gruyère cheese. Place the bread in an air fryer and cook at 180°C (360°F) for 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can toast the bread in the oven or under the grill.
  6. Serve: Once the soup is ready, ladle it into bowls and place the cheesy French bread on top. Enjoy!
