Ingredients Needed:
- 3 large onions, peeled and sliced into strips
 - 40g butter
 - 960ml vegetable stock
 - 1 tsp frozen garlic (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
 - 240ml white wine
 - 2 tbsp thyme
 - Salt & pepper to taste
 - 8 slices of French bread
 - 28g Gruyère cheese, grated
 
How To Make French Onion Soup In A Soup Maker:
- Prepare the onions: Peel and slice the onions into strips. Season them with salt, pepper, and thyme.
 - Sauté the onions: Add the onions and butter to your soup maker. Set it to the sauté function and sauté for 5 minutes until the onions start to soften and caramelize slightly.
 - Add the remaining ingredients: Cancel the sauté function and add the vegetable stock, garlic, and white wine. Make sure not to exceed the MAX line in your soup maker.
 - Cook the soup: Select the ‘Chunky’ soup setting and cook for 30 minutes.
 - Prepare the bread: Five minutes before the soup is done, slice the French bread and top with grated Gruyère cheese. Place the bread in an air fryer and cook at 180°C (360°F) for 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can toast the bread in the oven or under the grill.
